Article Environmental Development Strategy for Old-Developed Regions: Example of Yaroslavl Region by Georgy Fomenko, Marina Fomenko is published in collection Old-developed regions: genesis, historical fate, modern development trends 
The article, on the example of the developed Environmental strategy of the Yaroslavl region, shows the results of a conjugate analysis of the priority problems of the region, taking into account the external context and global Sustainable Development Goals, including the main environmental problems of the Yaroslavl region, as well as selected mechanisms for their implementation and performance indicators. The article shows that the development of environmental strategies old-developed regions, considered as a non-equilibrium human-nature complexes of different levels of spatial organizations, should consider the evolution in the understanding of environmental problems as systemic problems of territorial development; enhancing the role of goal setting and focusing on the implementation of the SDGs and national priorities; including the region in the transfer of new green technologies. All this implies a transition from an industry-specific approach to an ecosystem approach. The main attention should be paid to assessing the state and dynamics of natural capital value as a territory-specific set of ecosystem services and minimizing the environmental risks generated by economic and other activities. The experience of the Yaroslavl region shows that the key priorities of environmental development of the old-developed region may be solving problems of a gradual decrease in the economic value of natural capital, the increasing environmental vulnerability of cities, increasing environmental and social vulnerability of rural settlements. Goals and objectives are specified based on these issues, with the subsequent outlining of activities and indicators of their implementation. It is advisable to use the methodology of environmental-economic accounting (SEEA) as an information platform.
