Carbon reporting for submission to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)

We have prepared and successfully submitted the report on the climate activities of the one of the world's largest suppliers of mineral fertilizers under the request of CDP in extremely short terms. The work was carried out in collaboration of Strategy DNA, Inc., with the advisory participation of internationally respected experts.

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an independent non-profit organization and the most authoritative data aggregator in the field of greenhouse gas emissions. It has been collecting collect information on the activities of major companies from around the world in mitigating and adapting to climate change for more than 15 years. CDP collects data which is used by a wide range of stakeholders, including institutional investors. The CDP rating of companies affects their reputation and competitiveness.

The carried out works include:

• collection and synthesis of initial data necessary for the preparation of a report for CDP on the activities of enterprises in the climate sector;

• clarification and adjustment of the results of calculations of direct greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1) performed by specialists of enterprises;

 • calculation of indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy (Scope2) of enterprises;

• calculation of other indirect greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 3) of enterprises;

• preparation of a report on the activities of enterprises in the climate sector in Russian and English for submission to CDP (professional translation);

• preparation of a concept of the Strategy for reducing greenhouse gas emissions of enterprises by 2020 and for the period till 2030;

• preparation of preliminary approaches to the development of key parts of the Strategy.

Thus, along with the preparation of CDP reporting, we have prepared decisions to the basic problems regarding the inclusion of climate issues in the general system of management documents of the company. Voluntary carbon reporting verified by an independent international body allows the company to demonstrate the effectiveness of emissions control and measures to reduce them to all interested parties. This information has a significant impact on investment decisions regarding the company, as it demonstrates the company's resilience to risks (including financial) associated with the actions of the government and the international community aimed to prevent the threats of climate change and to control greenhouse gas emissions.
