Health Risk Assessment for Khabarovsk International Airport (Novy)

For the commissioning of a new terminal and runway at the territory of the international Airport Khabarovsk (Novy), it was necessary to establish a buffer zone. An integral part of the project was the implementation and approval of the project on health risk assessment in accordance with the current legislation of the Russian Federation in the field of environmental protection and ensuring environmental and sanitary-epidemiological safety of the population. 

Our experts prepared a risk assessment project in the shortest possible time, assessed the compliance of the acoustic parameters of residential areas with hygienic requirements for the acoustic regime, the compliance of the levels of health risk generated by the associated aircraft noise from the activities of the Khabarovsk Airport with acceptable risk levels. 

The developed and approved project for health risk assessment, the approved buffer zone, the exclusion of penalties and additional inspection checks allowed the commissioning of a new terminal (1200 passengers per hour, or about 3 million passengers a year) and a runway, increase passenger traffic, profit and investment attractiveness of the airport.
