The 16th session of the Joint Task Force on Environmental Statistics and Indicators was held in Geneva, Switzerland

    The work carried out by the Joint Task Force is aimed at improving environmental reporting and ensuring the availability and comparability of environmental statistics in the target countries in the long term.
    The 16th session was attended by representatives of statistical services and environmental organizations from countries of Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA), experts from the European Environment Agency (EEA), the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). Scientific and Technical Center “Resources and Consulting” was represented by the leading experts – Georgy Fomenko, Doctor of Science in Geography, and Marina Fomenko, PhD in Geography.
    The 16th session was aimed at identifying specific capacity needs related to environmental statistics, indicators of the Shared Environmental Information System and the Sustainable Development Goals, exploring the experience of EECCA countries in the implementation of environmental indicators, and addressing issues of capacity building in areas of sustainable development and green economy.
